After viewing this image and reading the controversy behind the picture titled "Piss Christ" by Andres Serrano, I find myself bewildered by the altercations that follow it, "from anger, to protest, and physical attacks to the artwork" (Holpuch 2012). What I find to be most striking about the piece is the statement made by Andres Serrano, "At the time I made Piss Christ, I wasn't trying to get anything across," stating that, "In hindsight, I'd say Piss Christ is a reflection of my work, not only as an artist, but as a Christian.", giving the image a much deeper meaning (Holpuch 2012). To some this could be perceived as a sacrilegious article against Christianity but to Serrano the meaning goes deeper into the sense of the crucifixion of Christ and how, "he not only bled to death, he shat himself and peed himself to death" (Holpuch 2012). In my opinion Piss Christ is a piece of art because it makes one look at the medium used and not just as its form but also its representation. The symbol of Christ on the crucifix has a subjective way of being intrepreted, whereas the reality of what occurred should bring us all to our knees to think someone would go so far to endure the pain of all our sins.

the Image above is titled L.H.O.O.Q.and was done by artist Marcel Duchamp (L.H.O.O.Q. 2015). It is a reproduction of Leonardo da Vinci'c Mona Lisa with an added goatee and mustache. In my opinion it is a play on art and has something to do with Duchamp's friend being "falsely detained in connection with the theft of the Mona Lisa" (L.H.O.O.Q. 2015). It reminds me of being a child and drawing mustaches on faces in newspapers and magazines. I'm sure its something we all have done and this picture goes to show that even the Mona Lisa is fair game.

"Newgrange is Ireland best known passage tomb dating back to 200 b.c." (World 2010). The art in the entrance is considered to be the "finest achievement of European Neolithic art" (World 2010). What can be considered strikingly notable is small opening on the roof that allows for light to flow in during the winter solstice (World 2010). The tomb is a remarkable piece of art that stands true to time. To take into fact the precision it took to build such a work in its time is such an astonishing feat. This tomb is truly a work of art and a sight to behold. The work that went into cutting art into stone shows the determination and prowess of its people. I can't help but admire such a creation.

When it comes to sacred tattoos being art I find the symbolism to reflect deeper meaning that the picture goes to show. If a person has chosen to permanently ink their faith on their body it is to show a representation of what they believe in. They give the ability to express inner emotions and they can be seen as a sign of protection. I myself have never had ink work done but hope to some time in the future. I feel whatever I choose has to be something I believe in and deep rooted in my beliefs, so I can see why people choose to go with something sacred. I believe sacred tattoos are beautiful pieces of art and go a long way in expressing someones beliefs.

The piece above titled "Blind Light consists of a large semi-transparent glass chamber lit by fluorescent light and filled with thick clouds of steam and is done by Antony Gormley" (Dormant 2007). when inside the chamber full of mystifying fog one can find themselves with a ghostly feeling unable to see no more than whats right in front of you (Dormant 2007). This piece of art involves more than just visuals, it captivates the beholder and envelops them into the fog allowing them for a moment to very much be part of the art. "Blind light" is an eerie work of art that one can easily get lost in, and literally have one feeling the walls looking for an exit (Dormant 2007).

Taylor swift's " I knew you were trouble" is an expressive song about how one can literally see the trouble written on another and yet still choose to plunge into one's own emotions. She is a great musician and artist and her songs really are works of art. She does not care how others choose to feel about her and it shows in her music. She is expressive, does not aim to be accepted, and follows her own emotions. She and her music are better examples to lead by than most of the pop singers that are out there lately.

Dancing is definitely an expressive art. Every culture has their own dances, and in every sub-culture dancing still holds true. I can't imagine a world without the artistic expression of music and dance. It is very much a flow of art making its way across one's body. It gives one the ability to express oneself in whatever movement desired, and brings people together as a whole. As we evolve so does our dance and art representing what we have learned along the way.
